Writer's Express: A Handbook for Young Writers, Thinkers, and Learners
Published in Paperback by Great Source Education Group Inc (June, 1999)
Authors: Dave Kemper, Ruth Nathan, Carol Elsholz, and Patrick Sebranek

Help for my children
I have 3 boys who dislike writing. It's frustrating to get them to think of ideas to write about even in their daily school journals. This book makes thinking of ideas fun and helps to know how to write them. I borrowed Writers Express from a friend after being told it was great. I then purchased Write Source 2000, as I was unsure of the age appropriateness. Write Source 2000 is great for 6th grade and above because it is less cartoon-like and has higher level information. Writers Express is perfect for 2nd grade and above. Much of the information is overlapping, but written age-appropriately.

Dave Kemper really knows how to make writing fun!!!!!!!
This book has had a strong impact on the way I write. My dream of being a professianel writer seems so close when I read about the process of writing in this book. I really think this is a wonderful book to have, all through your life!

This book is a must for elementary school students.
I am a fourth grade teacher in California. I first saw this book about 5 years ago and bought a few copies for my class to use. I was amazed at how it fascinated the students even though it was a writer's handbook. It was in constant demand during our daily sustained silent reading time. The book is colorful and inviting and contains a wealth of information besides just general writing how to's. It has maps, presidential timelines, helpful math tables, and much more. It is colorfully organized and coded for easy reference and written to appeal to kids and motivate them to write. I showed this book to my principal and other teachers and they were all so impressed that the decision was made to order the books for all of our upper grade classes 4 through 6. The Write Source books have become one of the key components of our language program. I would highly recommend this book to all parents and students. It is a resource that is as valuable as the dictionary or encyclopedia that you offer your child at home to support his/her education.

Seeing Zach
Published in Hardcover by Purple Chickie Press (25 August, 1999)
Author: Bebe Kemper
Average review score:

Seeing Zach
A beautifully written and Illustrated book. Very positive and uplifiting. A wise story to help children and adults focus on the truly important aspects and meanings of life and death.

A must have book
Ms. Kemper's thoughtfully written and beautifully illustrated story of a young boy's efforts to cope with the death of his beloved dog Zach is a masterful treatment of the pain and grief that children and adults often experience following such a loss. "Timmy," the story's main character, wondering if he will ever overcome the loss he feels at the prospect of never seeing Zach again, seeks solace and understanding through conversations with his grandmother. In dialog with "Gram," Timmy discovers an important truth: we never really lose the pets (or persons) we love as long as we remember and celebrate the qualities that made us love them--unconditional love, loyalty, getleness, caring. The book is touching--instructional--wonderful! Seeing Zach is a must addition for every home, school and public library!

A Meaningful Book
It is a rare literary achievement when a piece can be written which has real meaning for both adults and children, but Seeing Zach is such a book.

The book imparts a poignant, meaningful and powerful message. The artistry of the beautiful illustrations is splendid. Indeed, the book is a noteworthy literary achievement.

A GREAT ENGLISH BOOK
This is a great book for when I do projects and research papers. It has grammar and bibliographic information which helps me to do correct term papers. I am 12 years old which makes it easier for me to find things. The best thing about this book is that you don't have to hassle to find a piece of writing information when it is all in one book.

Best source to help get over that awful writers block
I have used this book for 9 months and it provides a comprehensive guide to any form of writing. As an adult I have used this book as a source to help prepare materials for colleagues who are undertaking training in wrting skills. Highly recommended.

Helpful - A great resource - Fun to read
Even though this book is geared towards children, it was a great resource when I was student teaching in a sixth grade language arts class. You won't be sorry if you buy this one!

Best resource guide for young people in school--EXCELLENT!
As an English teacher, this is the best resource guide for young people in high school and college. I recommend this resource for anyone who must write a variety of compositions. It includes both APA and MLA styles as well as other helpful information.

Great Resource
I first used this book in high school and now that I am a teacher, I still have my book and am now introducing it to my students. It is a great book to access information on writing, thinking and understanding subject matter in general. It is so easy to understand and and reference from. Anything from writing resumes to plantet info.

An great book for all high schoolers!
My english teacher had a set of these books in her room, and we all loved them so much some of us bought our own copies! They are useful in all subjects because not only does it have grammer and spelling help, but it has a periodic table, maps and other great resources. The best part is that it is written with a teen in mind and is easy to use with a good sense of humour! A great book!

Infertility Counseling: A Comprehensive Handbook for Clinicians
Published in Paperback by CRC Press-Parthenon Publishers (15 August, 2000)
Authors: Linda Hammer, Phd Burns, Sharon N., Msw Covington, Roger D., MD Kempers, L.H. Burns, and S.N. Covington

Can't refer to a specialist? Use this book!
When managed care makes it impossible to refer a client to someone who specializes in infertility, here is the book that will make you feel confident about your work. And when you don't have time to read a whole book at once, here is the book that allows you to choose the chapters you need when you need them. The impressive array of interdisciplinary experts follow the same format in each chapter, making cross-references for the reader very easy. This book is truly comprehensive, including topics such as "Special Populations" and "Adoption after Infertility", along with the practical guidelines we all want but which are often lost amidst theory and statistics in other books. The appendices and resource section are especially impressive. There are questionnaires, guidelines, consent forms, and a record-keeping form. The resources section has over 20 pages ofdouble-column entries. The authors have organized a stunning amount of information in a way that is useful to clinicians new to infertility issues and to those with experience who want to learn more

An indispensible resource for infertility counselors.
Burns and Covington's book has been very helpful in my practice. "Seasoned" clinicians as well as practitioners with less experience working with infertile clients will find the information presented valuable.

Write Source 2000
This book is outstanding. I teach seventh grade English, history, and a variety of other subjects, and have found Write Source 2000 to be an invaluable tool. It is clear, concise, and written in an age-appropriate style; yet at the same time it is marvelously comprehensive in its content. Consider this: it covers spelling rules; punctuation; grammar, including a lucid definitions of the different tenses; it explains paragraph structure; and it contains the complete texts of the U.S. Constitution, the Gettysburg Address, Susan B. Anthony's "Women's Right to Vote" speech, Martin Luther King's "I Have a Dream" oration, and as other significant historical documents. These are but a few of its offerings. My class and I refer to Write Source 2000 at least once or twice a week, no matter what we are studying. Although the book is written for middle school students, it is so clear and comprehensive that I often recommend it to my friends who teach college. It deserves every one of its five stars.

A writing and thinking handbook with some voice!
Write Source 2000 is one of the most valuable tools in my sixth grade language arts classroom. I have used it in place of the state adopted grammar book for two years with great success. Students find its colorful layout and relaxed voice nonthreatening and fun to use. It offers wonderful suggestions for writing, reading, and thinking, and I recommend this book to any teacher or parent seeking quality educational materials. Parents of children older than twelve or so might try the sister book Writer's Inc.

This Book Rocks!
The Write Source 2000 is a great resource to have by your side. My grades were really bad in writing when I started the school year. When I got the Write Source 2000 it taught me how to write any paragraph or essay. I also used it for other stuff besides writing. This book is very good resource.

Still using Writer's Inc. after 9 years!
This book served me well through high school, college, my first job as a newspaper reporter, and also as a content writer for an Internet integrator. Highly recommended. I believe all schools should do what my high school did with this book: but a copy for every student to keep forever. It is an invaluable resource, with the right approach, and a little attitude.

Fun, witty, smart, direct, and simply the best reference book I've ever owned, Writer's Inc. is exceptional not only for its utility, but also its content. Writer's Inc. is not only a grammar guide and reference, but addresses the THINKING and LEARNING processes in a way that most schools fail to do directly.

Read this book. Keep it on your shelf all through school, college, a career, and the rest of your life after this and you will have a richer mind for it.

My favorite writing resource of all time!
This is my all-time favorite writing guide. I had a copy in high school. I bought another copy last year and have recommended the book to everyone I know. Writers Inc. contains a wealth of information. You won't regret purchasing a copy. It is excellent.

The Best Writing Source that You Haven't Heard About
This is the writing resource that I wish I had been introduced to back in high school when writing essays and term papers. It is accessible for high school students but can also provide guidance for those out of school.

With writing becoming increasingly important in high school (the SAT is about to add a writing section), this is an invaluable pedagogical resource for the teacher and student. High school and college student with superior writing skills will always differentiate themselves from their peers. By using this book, the student will improve organization and construction of essays and term papers as well as improve analytical reasoning and thinking. There is even a section of appropriate language for business writing. Teachers will find the most improvement in student's revising skills, a step that most high school students skip over in the writing process.

It is more useful as a writing resource than as an authority on grammar. For a grammar resource, I recommend Dianne Hacker's Writer's Reference. Another useful writing resource for those out of school is Peter Elbow's Writing Without Teachers. Elbow's book is quoted several times in Writer's Inc. for providing suggestions for lifelong improvement of writing out of school. Another perennial favorite is E.B. White's Elements of Style.

More parents, students, and educators should be made aware of this book. It is a good investment.

Write for College: A Students Handbook
Published in Paperback by Great Source Education Group Inc (March, 1997)
Authors: Patrick Sebranek, Verne Meyer, and Dave Kemper
Average review score:

Great Book !
I used this book in an advanced class in High School, and I plan to continue using it through college. It is very easy to read, follow, and understand, and very helpful to almost anyone who will use it. I would recommend this book to any person who will have to do a lot of writing.

Perfect for the Returning College Student
I'm returning to college after 15 years of being in the "real world" and this book is great. I have a lot of natural writing ability and overall, I'm comfortable with the writing process. But it has been awhile since I've had to sit down and write a college position/research paper and I don't recall ever being required to use the MLA document style before! It's great to be able to pick and choose through the sections of this book as I need them!

It Gets Better Every Time!
I have used this book for a high school composition class for the last 3 years. Every time I read through it, I learn something new! This is definitely one to read with a highliter in hand. My students have found this book helpful, and many have purchased their own copy for college use. My best results have been with the advanced level students, although all writing levels have benefitted from it. Read and re-read it again. Enjoy!
